PGS was incorporated in 1991 and is one of the leading players in the seismic industry. The company offers a broad range of seismic and reservoir services to oil and gas companies globally. Since the sale of its onshore business in 2010, the company has been a focused marine geophysical company. PGS was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1992 and is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.

PGS is the last remaining fully integrated seismic-player, servicing both the proprietary acquisition market and the multi-client segment. PGS owns and operates one of the largest 3D fleets in the industry.The active fleet currently consists of five high-end 3D vessels. In addition, PGS has a leading position in the growing 4D market. In addition to seismic acquisition services, PGS owns one of the largest offshore multi-client libraries, comprising more than 850k sqkm of 3D data and more than 670k km of 2D seismic in all major basins.

PGS has established a new energy business unit, which will assess the market’s needs and opportunities within renewable energy, leveraging the company’s geophysical operations to support the industry’s transition to clean energy. The competencies can be used within carbon storage, offshore wind, marine minerals, and geothermal energy.
