Cognite is an industrial software company enabling capital intensive industries to leverage already available data to improve monitoring and understanding of operations. The company was founded in 2016 and is privately held with Aker ASA as the largest shareholder with a 50.5% ownership stake. In addition, Accel invested in the company in late 202 and TCV in May this year, with the latter resulting in a USD >1bn valuation and one of Norway’s first private unicorns. The company is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.

Cognite collects, standardizes and enables analyses of data from disparate silos and delivers a digital presentation of the industrial reality in a preferred visualization application, which is highly scalable. The company offers SaaS across several industries like oil and gas, power and utilities, shipping and manufacturing. The technology is used for production optimization, data-driven maintenance, increased safety, lower emissions and business model transformation. Cognite has secured a range of new commercial engagements with industrial companies, including Chiyoda and Mitsubishi. In addition, the company has benefited of its close ties with the Aker-sphere of companies, including Aker BP.
