Edda Wind is the offshore wind arm of Østensjø Rederi, a maritime services company founded in 1974 with worldwide operations in OSV, towage and accommodation. Edda Wind provides purpose built SOV’s and CSOVs to the offshore wind market. Østensjø Rederi is headquartered in Haugesund, Norway and has offices in Aberdeen, Southampton, and Malta. Edda Wind is owned 50% by Johannes Østensjø Dy AS and 50% by Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA.Edda Wind currently owns and operates two service operation vessels (SOV) that are designed to provide access for personnel to wind turbine generators. The vessels were built at Gondan in Spain in 2017 and 2018, with both contracted for five firm years plus five one-year options with Ørsted in the UK.
In addition, the company has ordered four commissioning service operation vessels (CSOV) and two service operation vessels (SOV). Edda has been awarded contracts for two of these newbuilds (one CSOV and one SOV) by MHI Vestas and Ocean Breeze Energy. The contract with Ocean Breeze commenced in Q1’21 and has a firm period of eleven years, while the contract with Vestas will commence in Q2’22 and has a firm period of 15 years. The remaining four vessels are set to be delivered from 2022 to 2024.
