Archer is a global oilfield service company specializing in drilling and well services. The company delivers a wide range of services, including platform and land drilling, wireline and engineering and is a supplier of various well tools. Archer was formed in 2011 through the coming together of Seawell and Allis-Chalmers Energy. The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and is headquartered in Sandnes, Norway.

Archer is organized in two geographical segments; Western Hemisphere and Eastern Hemisphere. The Western Hemisphere segment comprises the company’s land drilling businesses in Latin America, which owns and operates a fleet of onshore drilling and service rigs in Argentina and Bolivia. The company also owns a fluid and solids control business and an 11.1% equity stake in US onshore oilfield company KLX Energy. The Eastern Hemisphere segment includes the company’s operations in the North Sea and the global Oil Tools and Wirelines Service businesses, where Archer is a leading platform driller in the North Sea. Archer’s platform drilling portfolio includes 44 platform rigs, 3 semi-submersibles, 2 modular rigs and 1 MODU tender barge, which it executes operations, maintenance, and recertificate all elements of the drilling equipment for all the assets. In May 2021, Archer acquired DeepWell, a Norwegian well intervention company focusing on wireline services to oil companies for a consideration of NOK 177m, further strengthening its wireline equipment fleet and organization.
