Founded in 1841, Aker is a Norwegian industrial investment company that targets to combine industrial competence with financial strength. Aker looks to create shareholder value through active ownership in industries where the company has in-depth knowledge, such as oil and gas, renewable energy, clean technology, maritime and seafood, as well as and industrial software. The company is headquartered in Oslo, Norway and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Kjell Inge Røkke is Aker’s principal shareholder, owning ~68% of the shares.Aker separates between industrial and financial holdings. As of Q2’21, Its listed industrial holdings are the E&P company Aker BP (40% ownership), energy service company Aker Solutions (33.34% ownership), energy service investment company Akastor (36.7%), ship owning company Ocean Yield (61.7%), fish and biotech company Aker Biomarine (77.8%) and renewable energy company Aker Horizons (79.95%). The private industrial holdings are Aker Energy (50.8%) and industrial software company Cognite (50.5%). In addition, Aker has equity investments in listed companies American Shipping Company, Philly Shipyard, REC Silicon, software company Aize, Solstad Offshore, a real estate portfolio (Aker Property Group) and other assets.
