HKN Energy is a privately held independent E&P company with oil production in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). The company was founded by majority shareholder Ross Perot Jr in 2007 and holds a 62% PSC interest (77.5% working interest) in the Sarsang block. The Block has two distinct producing fields, Swara Tika and East Swara Tika, which had a combined net production of ~21,700 boepd in H1’21.

In 2019, the company raised a USD 100m bond in 2019 to finance a new production facility, which will add ~25,000 to HKN’s (gross) production. The facility, which is currently being finalized, is expected to reach first oil by Q3’22.
