Verkor is a French industrial company based in Grenoble. The company was founded in 2020 with the sole ambition to ramp up low-carbon battery manufacturing in France and southern Europe to meet the growing demand for EVs and stationary storage. The project accelerated after a EUR 100m financing round with the purpose of building an Innovation Centre by 2022.

Unique for the company is their partnership with Renault which intends to buy high-performance batteries for several of their car-models. Verkor targets to accelerate the large-scale industrialization of batteries in Europe and roll out intelligent and sustainable manufacturing as part of the first French Gigafactory with a target of 16GWh annually in 2024.

The company is backed by the French Government and co-led by EQT Ventures and Renault Group.
