BW Ideol is a newly established pure-play floating offshore wind company that develops floating offshore wind projects and provides EPC of floating foundations. The company was established by BW Offshore and Ideol in February 2021 and listed on Euronext Growth in Oslo in March 2021.

BW Ideol takes advantage of more than ten years of experience within floating wind and has developed the Damping Pool foundation technology, which through its barge design optimizes the stability and performance of the floating wind turbine. In addition, the company is well-positioned through several partnerships in key floating wind markets.

BW Ideol is an early mover in the industry and has already delivered two demo projects in France and Japan. The floating offshore wind market represents the next offshore technology set for commercialisation and is expected to grow from currently ~0.1 GW installed capacity to >15 GW by 2035. The technology makes it possible to locate the offshore wind farms further from shore, which generally offer higher and more consistent wind speeds and higher energy production, as well as more flexibility in terms of wind farm location and design. BW Ideol targets a gross portfolio of 10 GW by 2030 of which 1.5 GW is targeted to be operational.
