SES-X is a privately held Norwegian company based on an earlier R&D company called Effect Ship International, which was acquired by external shareholders in 2019. The company has a patented hull technology that reduces energy consumption and CO2 emission compared to conventional hulls. The technology is compatible with conventional propulsion systems and smaller propulsion systems. SES-X creates both passenger and work boats.

SES-X' unique hull is essentially a regular V-shaped hull with a hollow bottom section, a rear enclosing flap and an air fan in the bow. SES-X’ solution is simpler, safer and more robust than hydrofoils. SES-X vessels have the ability to improve over their lifetime, with SES-X’ advanced ride control system, onboard sensors and wireless connectivity. By collecting anonymous data from vessels in operation, SES-X utilizes machine learning to improve control algorithms, always ensuring best-in-class fuel efficiency and seakeeping available.
