Virtual orchestra "Orchestrating Inclusivity" Passed

Thursday June 23, 2022 16:15 - 17:30 HKT Workshop

Speaker: Dominic Alldis
Panelist: Priscilla Wu

Imagine entering a concert hall and being invited to sit within a symphony orchestra. What would it feel like? What would you see and hear happening around you? What would happen if you were asked to stand on the podium, hold the baton and lead the orchestra?

The Orchestra Experience is an interactive event with a live symphony orchestra. It begins with a short performance of an inspiring piece of classical music using video cameras to convey the energy and excitement of playing in a symphony orchestra. The conductor then explains the role and function of each instrument and shows how collaboration, listening, trust and careful preparation lead to exceptional performances. The participants also obverse the conductor modelling different leadership styles and assess the impact they each have on the way the orchestra plays. The event combines musical performance with interactive discussion, giving the online participants an opportunity to ask questions and share their observations about what they are seeing, hearing and sensing.

Leadership lessons that you’ll learn from this session:

  • Learn how the conductor of an orchestra leads through listening, building trust and creating an environment in which others can excel.

  • Learn how authenticity and non-verbal communication has an immense impact on the way people feel, behave and perform.

  • Learn how an inspirational conductor can transform an ordinary performance to an extraordinary performance.
