Ecohelix enables the replacement of petroleum and food based polymers with sustainable, high performing alternative. The technology (now in demo production at Domsjö Fabriker mill) utilizes pulping side streams by applying biotechnology and filtration. A valuable polymer is produced, the host process is improved (capacity and cost of processing) and less greenhouse gases are released through replacement of oil-based products on the market. Engineering of a large scale unit (with 15 000 tn/a production capacity) has begun and Ecohelix aims to have the production up and running (15 000 tn) at the end of 2023.
