Beyonder is a Norwegian based energy storage technology company founded in 2016. The company creates tailormade, cost-efficient, next generation sustainable high-power battery cells, with strong performance in terms of longevity, temperature tolerances, and high loading/unloading cycles. Furthermore, the battery cells are developed using a proprietary process of transforming residue from forestry into super-activated carbon, replacing social- and environmental troubled raw materials such as nickel and cobalt. In addition, the production is powered entirely by renewable sources.

Beyonder’s batteries are suited for applications where conventional batteries are not powerful enough, or too expensive in their total cost of ownership. In particular, the battery cells can be part of tailormade solutions for renewable energy integration, high-power charging infrastructure, grid balancing systems and electric heavy transport.

Beyonder has invested heavily in R&D and has established a research center (Beyonder Battery Center) in Sandnes, Norway, for further development and testing of batteries. The company opened its 1,000 m2 prototype production line in March 2021, making Beyonder the first producing cell manufacturer in Norway.
