The first panel discussion of the day will concentrate on the "EASTEM project in a broader context" where the panelists from different sectors outside the project will discuss the relevance of international collaboration, accuracy of STEM centers and actions needed for future sustainability of ongoing STEM centers that were initiated during the project lifespan as well as international collaboration between regions and continents.
Prof. Dr. Valentina Dagiene Moderator
Valentina Dagiene focuses on informatics (computing) education research, specifically on computational thinking, technology enhanced learning, development of K-12 curricula, teacher education and digital competence, development of education tools, and gamification. She has published over 300 research articles and 60 textbooks. She is established and is Editor of two international journals “Informatics in Education“ and “Olympiads in Informatics” (indexed by Scopus, WOS emerging list, etc.). She coordinated over 50 national and international projects on ICT and informatics education and STEM. She is acknowledged by Ada Lovelace Computing Excellence Award (2016).

Cecilia Johansson is Associates Professor in Meteorology at Uppsala university. Since 2017 she is Dean of education for the Faculty of Science and Technology. Prior to that she has been Assistant and Deputy Head of the Department of Earth Sciences for eight year. In 2013 she was appointed Distinguished University Teacher. Her research focus on climatological variations of seasonal snow cover and influence of climate change.
Entrepreneur Narenda Wicaksono Panelist
Narenda is a young entrepreneur, founder of a startup (DICODING) that links universities and schools to industry. His startup has demonstrated output and outcome for linking academy-industry-government. Narenda's contribution is highly related to the EASTEM goal to improve the employability of STEM graduates by ensuring students acquire skills needed in the workplace.
