Equinor is Norway’s national energy company, historically primarily engaged in exploration, development, production and marketing of oil and natural gas resources. In addition, the company has been rapidly expanding its renewables business with a target of 4-6 GW of installed capacity by 2026.The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of USD ~55bn and USD 19bn of net debt. The Norwegian state owns 68.7% of the outstanding shares in Equinor.

Equinor’s recent investments/acquisitions within renewables have mainly been focused on offshore wind and solar. The company's largest project yet is the Dogger Bank development offshore the UK with a capacity of 3.6 GW once all three phases are commissioned. Equinor aims to become an "Offshore Wind Major", with 4-6 GW of net capacity in 2026 and 12-16 GW by 2030, up from 0.5 GW today. Other renewable initiatives include the Northern Lights project in Norway, constructing the first full CCS value chain with carbon storage offshore, two large solar projects in South America and several hydrogen projects.
