As large-scale buildout of wind and solar are realised all over the world, the ocean energy industry is still in an early stage. Will the leading technology developers unlock the vast energy resource any time soon, and how can it be done in a sustainable way? Ocean energy from tidal streams and ocean currents are 100% predictable and can be a valuable alternative in the renewable energy mix, to balance the intermittency of wind and solar. This can be a cornerstone in many ocean and coastal communities, but also the key for making a booming blue economy go green.

In the opening remarks of the United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2022, António Guterres , UN Secretary General, stated:  "Sustainable ocean management couldhelp the ocean produce as much as six times more food and generate 40 times more renewable energy than it currently does”.

Minesto here invites for a panel discussion on the future of ocean energy, and what it would mean to the world to unlock the power of the ocean.
