Can farmers in Egypt and Saharan Africa feed the world? Long-duration energy storage and the path to sustainable agriculture Passed

Tuesday November 15, 2022 14:00 - 14:40 EET Digital

Speakers:

  • Jonas Wallmander, CEO and President, Azelio
  • Muhammad El Demerdash, CEO, Engazaat
  • Quentin Ragetly, CEO, Mascara

Azelio (long-duration energy storage technology provider) is partnering with Engazaat (Egypt-based project developer) and Mascara (French-based desalination technology provider) in the SAVE cleantech utilities alliance.

The first project of the alliance will be in the Moghra oasis and will serve as a pilot that can be replicated for developing agriculture in the various desert areas of Egypt and the region.

Engazaat is one of the fastest-growing solar-water developers and operators in Egypt and MEA regions.

With social innovation at the core, the fintech-enabled disruptive business model is providing water-energy infrastructure-as-a-service on buy now pay later bases (BNPL) for the first time in the history of the industry enabling small farmers to specialize and do what they do best, at zero capex, zero-emission, minimum water footprint, and no operational burdens.
