Hospitals are moving AI/ML‑powered tools into routine care, but evidence‑based practice must extend to the data, not just the model. Today that evidence is buried in opaque pipelines that normalise, harmonise and clean messy inputs, leaving leaders and oversight bodies unable to see or evaluate the assumptions embedded upstream. This session focuses on how that gap has become a systemic trust problem for healthcare organisations and introduces provenance-by-design and compliance-as-code as organisational approaches for turning data preparation into inspectable evidence that supports informed sign-off and responsible AI use.

When Örebro University Hospital launched its thrombectomy program in 2021, it integrated advanced AI-based image analysis and mobile applications directly into the clinical workflow. The impact was immediate. By 2022, the unit achieved the highest intervention rate in Sweden, treating 21% of all ischemic stroke patients with thrombectomy—without any increase in morbidity or mortality. This session demonstrates how digital tools and automated detection can dramatically increase patient access to life-saving interventions.
