This talk provides a focused overview of where health AI stands today, highlighting persistent disparities in data, development, and outcomes, and the risks these gaps introduce in clinical use, including woman’s health. Nicoleta Economou will reflect on these challenges from both a system perspective and her experience working in AI evaluation and governance, before sharing practical examples of how Duke Health is approaching these issues through real-world use cases. The session closes by emphasizing the need for greater awareness, stronger governance frameworks, and continued progress in developing AI that more reliably supports care for women.

The European project Label2Enable (2022–2024) has tested how ISO/TS 82304-2 can be used to assess the quality and trustworthiness of health apps. The standard was tested as a common framework for transparency regarding security, quality, and information content. The results show that ISO/TS 82304-2 has potential as a common European reference, in line with the requirements of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) for trust, interoperability, and quality and trustworthiness. The work has continued, and the standard is currently applied to varying degrees in several European countries.

This presentation shares the concept and initial results of a pioneering, scientifically founded didactic approach in German nursing education: the use of Augmented Reality (AR) patient simulations in combination with case-based learning to promote critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills. We discuss how a unique, error-tolerant learning environment is created to combat observed student deficits in clinical reasoning and contribute directly to patient safety. The DHBW Stuttgart is the first German university to implement the HoloPatient software for this purpose.
