I am a PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology and Global Health at Umeå University, and a registered nurse specialized in elderly care employed as a PhD student and project coordinator at the Swedish Centre of Rural Health at Region Västerbotten. I am experienced and educated in mainly qualitative methods and qualitative systematic reviews. I have, moreover long life expereince of living and working in a rural area of rural northern Sweden and it's healthcare system. The primary aim of my doctoral research is to explore experiences and expectations surrounding healthcare encounters facilitated through digital solutions, such as videoconferencing technology, in everyday clinical practice. This includes both emergency situations in the emergency rooms of community hospitals in Västerbotten, and planned consultations with long-term care residents and their regular physician. My thesis also seeks to understand how healthcare services respond to citizens’ needs for high-quality care within the context of sparsely populated rural areas and the healthcare system in northern Sweden.
