The European project Label2Enable, conducted between 2022 and 2024, aimed to test how ISO/TS 82304-2 can be applied in practice to assess the quality and trustworthiness of health apps. The standard was tested as a common framework for transparency regarding security, quality, and information content, with a focus on usability for both organizations and users.

The results show that ISO/TS 82304-2 has the potential to function as a common European reference, even though its application currently varies between countries. The link to the European Health Data Space (EHDS) is central, as EHDS places increased requirements on trust, interoperability, and quality and trustworthiness in digital health solutions. The experiences from Label2Enable can therefore be seen as an important contribution to the development of common European principles for health apps in line with EHDS.

The work has continued, and today ISO/TS 82304-2 is applied to varying extents by several European countries as a shared European quality foundation.
