Aker Solutions is an integrated supplier of engineering, construction, products and services to the global energy industry. The company is in the process of being established in a merger of equals of existing service companies Aker Solutions and Kværner. The merger is expected to be completed in November 2020 subject to approval from regulators and shareholders in the respective companies.

The current Aker Solutions is a provider of subsea production systems and services, concept studies, front-end engineering and design (FEED) and maintenance and modifications work to oil and gas companies. The company also has a foothold within low carbon solutions, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and offshore wind. The company’s offshore wind development projects and stake in Principle Power were spun off to a separate entity and listed on Oslo Merkur Market as Aker Offshore Wind in August 2020. Concurrently, its carbon capture technology was separated into to Aker Carbon Capture, also listed on Merkur.

Kværner is a provider of EPC services and delivers offshore platforms, onshore plants, FPSO topsides and renewable energy solutions, with a strong offering to arctic climates. The company owns two Norwegian yards at Stord and Verdal. Like existing Aker Solutions, it has recently focused on developing renewables solutions within offshore wind, carbon capture and storage, biofuels plants and hydrogen plants.
