Aker Offshore Wind is a newly established company that develops floating offshore wind solutions with a focus on deepwater. The company has previously been a unit within Aker Solutions, which has more than 40 years’ experience designing, delivering and servicing floating structures platforms. The company was spun off and listed on the Oslo Merkur Market in August 2020 following a NOK 500m capital raise. Aker Solutions will be an alliance partner and a preferred supplier to the company. Aker ASA owns 51% of Aker Offshore Wind through its wholly owned subsidiary Aker Horizons.The company has a ~20% ownership in Principle Power, which has developed WindFloat, a proven deepwater floating wind turbine foundation concept. WindFloat was deployed offshore Portugal for the first 8.4 MW floating turbine in the world. The current portfolio consists of two active projects in South Korea and California, US, in addition to a pipeline of prospects in Europe, US and Asia.
