Royal Dutch Shell is a global energy and petrochemical company with operations in more than 70 countries. Founded in 1907, the company has evolved into one of the major integrated oil and gas companies in the world. In recent years, the company has positioned itself in the energy transition by providing low-carbon energy solutions. The company has its headquarters in The Hauge, Netherlands, and has regional offices worldwide. Shell’s shares are trading on the London Stock Exchange, Euronext Amsterdam and New York Stock Exchange.

In 2019, Shell produced ~3.7 mill boepd, split roughly equal between liquids and gas from both onshore and offshore fields across the world. In addition, the company sold 7.45 mill tonnes of LNG. Going forward, the company has identified three strategic themes for the future of energy; core upstream themes, leading transition themes and emerging power themes. The core upstream themes focus on strong cash generation, and comprises deepwater, shale and conventional oil and gas. The leading transition themes are Shell’s market-facing businesses, and comprises integrated gas, chemicals and oil products. The emerging power theme focuses on creating business models that meet customer demands as society transitions to much greater levels of electrification.
