Cognite is an industrial software company which enables companies in capital-intensive sectors to improve their operations through efficient data collection and sharing. The company was founded in 2016 and has offices in Norway, US and Japan. Cognite’s largest shareholder is Aker ASA with a 64% stake.

The company’s core product is Cognite Data Fusion, which liberates historical and real-time data from disparate and unavailable silos. The platform then structures the data to build an operational digital twin of industrial asset portfolios, reducing friction between users and their data. The first years, Cognite leveraged its relationship to Aker gaining access to Aker BP and other Aker companies. This allowed Cognite to build its products with live customers and data, further accelerating the development and fine-tuning of the platform. The past year, the client base has close to doubled and revenues have increased by ~80% y/y.
