Aker Carbon Capture is a newly established company that delivers carbon capture, utilization and storage solutions. The company has previously been a unit within Aker and Aker Solutions since the 1990s, before it was spun off and listed on the Oslo Merkur Market in August 2020 following a NOK 500m capital raise. Aker Solutions will be an alliance partner and a preferred supplier to the company. Aker ASA owns 51% of Aker Carbon Capture through its wholly owned subsidiary Aker Horizons. The company is headquartered in Oslo. Norway.The company has developed solutions, services and technologies that cover the entire value chain, from capture, transport, utilization to storage of CO2 and enhanced oil recovery, with capture as key focus. The company serves a range of industries with carbon emissions, including cement, waste-to-energy, steel and oil and gas. Aker Carbon Capture has developed a proprietary carbon capture process that uses a mixture of water and organic amine solvent to absorb the CO2. The company is involved in 18 ongoing projects ranging from concept studies to post-FEED, including feasibility studies for several European waste-to-energy and cement companies, FPSO operators and US Department of Energy-funded CO2 studies in the US GoM.
