Track: General

About the Venue. The Carolina Theatre opened on Tryon Street in 1927 as a silent picture palace, known for its resplendent murals, Spanish-inspired stonework and wrought-iron chandeliers, and went on to host stars including Elvis Presley, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Katharine Hepburn. After closing in 1978, the theatre sat vacant for more than three decades until the Foundation For The Carolinas purchased it from the City of Charlotte in 2012 and launched a multimillion-dollar restoration. The historic venue reopened to the public in March 2025 and now serves as a dynamic civic and cultural hub in the heart of Uptown. Learn more here: https://www.thecarolina.com/about-us/history
