This talk will provide an overview of what reliable positioning really means and why it is important, as well as how different technologies relate to it, and what the future might hold.

Emil Fresk is the CTO of Widefind, a Swedish company that offers systems for highly reliable positioning in underground tunnel environments. Responsible for Widefind’s technological core, he works with everything from RF and component level design to system architecture and positioning algorithms.
Emil holds a PhD in Control Theory from Luleå University of Technology, where he specialized in positioning for robotics and autonomous drones. Additionally, Emil is a member of the Embedded Working Group for the emerging programming language RUST, which enables profound reliability and robustness for highly embedded and critical systems.

Maria Sunér is the CEO of Svemin, the Swedish Association for Mines, Mineral and Metal Producers. Ms Sunér has a profound background from the business sector, and has held several positions at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, as well as for the Swedish Association of Energy producers. She has also worked for the Worldbank and Eon. Ms Sunér is a honorary member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering, and a vice chair of the Energy and Environment Committee for Business at the OECD.
