Company Profile
Bio-Works designs, develops, manufactures and supplies innovative agarose products for chromatographic separation of proteins, peptides and other biomolecules. The products are used for purification in the life science research phases as well as the commercial production of biopharmaceuticals and diagnostic products in large scale. The products are sold globally both through direct sales and via distributors. Bio-Works’ headquarters, R&D and manufacturing facilities are located in Uppsala, Sweden.

Recent highlights
In Q1, the company’s net sales amounted to SEK 18,948 thousand, of which SEK 2,544 thousand related to sales of products, an increase of 25% year-on-year. The rest of the income is related to licence agreements. In February, Bio-Works announced a licensing agreement with Amicogen Inc to establish local manufacturing of agarose resins in South Korea. In March, the company launched two new pre-packed, ready-to-use ion exchange chromatography columns for easy and convenient purification of proteins, peptides and oligonucleotides. In May, the company signed an exclusive distribution agreement with MicroAnalytix for Australia and New Zealand. In June, Bio-Works announced that they have signed a non-exclusive Distribution Agreement with S. Amit Speciality Chemicals Private Limited to import, store, distribute, market, promote and sell products within India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Outlook
Bio-Works’ focus for 2021 will be to expand its global sales platform and drive the commercialisation of its products with increasing pace.
