Reframing discussions on Dog Health and Welfare: Responsible Breeding and Sourcing of dogs
Goals:
What do veterinarians need to know to understand the challenges around pedigree and other purpose-bred dogs – internationally?
How do responsible breeding and sourcing of dogs enter into the discussion?
How can you engage effectively – starting NOW?
The talk will describe some of the controversial issues happening internationally, the role of many stakeholder groups as well as veterinarian and veterinary organizations. The current crises are around brachycephalics, but this talk will also stress a bigger picture.
It will discuss all sources of dogs - and the role of both consumers and producers in the process. Some of this will not apply as much in Sweden, but your country will be impacted by legislation in Europe, etc.
I will do a sort bit on responsible breeding in Sweden, how the veterinary milieu, insurance etc plays into that.
And bring it all back to actions individual vets can take, while waiting or working for actions at higher levels.
Does this sound acceptable? It really fits in with challenges in the dog world these days.
Brenda finns tillgänglig från 12.30 och svarar på era frågor i chatten.
