Mirela Atanasiu will share insights on the state of the art in fuel cells and electrolysers, and what is happening in Europe and the rest of the world in the hydrogen area. The speech will cover the parameters of technology readiness, performance and cost.

This presentation will explore the importance of Nordic collaboration in accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility and the company Nordic Innovation’s approach to this. 

Ida will begin with a quick introduction to GreenH, highlighting its commitment to advancing local hydrogen production as a key solution for sustainable energy. She will then introduce the Next Wave project, emphasizing its importance in the broader context of zero-emission initiatives. From there, Ida will delve into the main barriers identified for establishing zero-emission tradelines, particularly focusing on challenges in sea transport. Drawing from her experiences with the Bodø project, she will illustrate these obstacles with real-world examples, offering a grounded perspective on the difficulties faced. Finally, Ida will touch on some potential mitigation measures, exploring practical steps that could help overcome these challenges and pave the way for cleaner and more efficient transport solutions.

In this presentation, Julia will share some insights on how policies like the Fuel EU Maritime regulation, as well as other related EU policies, might influence the possibilities for different alternative marine fuels, including hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels and propulsion concepts. The Fuel EU Maritime regulation includes, for example, a requirement to reduce the yearly average greenhouse gas intensity of energy used onboard ships gradually from 2025 to 2050. 

Robin will talk through the various trends visible within the European Hydrogen world, highlighting the progress that has been made (since 2020) and the challenging environment within which we are establishing this new hydrogen world. Conclusions are made with reference to the Swedish marketplace with cautious recommendations about actions required to realise economic and energy benefits for Sweden.

Roy is currently serving as a Chief Engineer at MAN Truck & Bus SE in Nuremberg, Germany, Roy leads product development for big bore internal combustion engines being responsible from concept until serial production, including diesel and hydrogen variants. His pioneering work in hydrogen internal combustion engines has positioned him at the forefront of sustainable automotive technology, driving innovation and delivering cost-effective solutions. 

Daniel will discuss the role different energies can play for heavy trucks decarbonization, and the challenges and opportunities that comes with it.

The presentation will explore the challenges and solutions associated with hydrogen-powered vehicles. It will delve into pilot projects for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) and Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines (H2 ICE), highlighting the cutting-edge technology driving these innovations. Additionally, the discussion will cover Scania’s approach to Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV) and the evolving landscape of certification standards.

With a 100-year legacy of industry and research expertise, Canada’s hydrogen and hydrogen technology sector is a global leader as a result of pioneering technologies and a strong history of partnerships between industry, academia, governments and other international professional associations. The Canadian Hydrogen Association has played a key role in this leadership and will continue to do so while helping to create a prosperous net-zero world.
 

How do we get from projects and feasibility studies to the Hydrogen economy? We probably have to do it together.

In this session, Fortum and Euromekanik will discuss their roles in the Kalla Project; a hydrogen test center in Loviisa. The Kalla test center will be used for technical piloting and exploring clean hydrogen production. It also serves as a reference case for future Power-to-X (P2X) projects in Finland. The focus of their presentation will be on the maturity of the hydrogen market, the importance of projects for developing technology standards, and the dynamics of collaboration between a large Finnish company and a smaller Swedish one. Insights from the project's setup and complexity will be shared, highlighting lessons learned to pave the way for future initiatives.

In their work with plant optimization with LKAB in Sweden and Sizewell C in England, Quantified Carbon has gained a holistic perspective with valuable insights and recommendations for how these actors should use hydrogen. At the conference, they will share their insights on how important a holistic perspective is in plant design and how small details can affect profitability.
