Arendals Fossekompani is a Norwegian investment company, with a portfolio consisting of green-tech subsidiaries in addition to hydropower, property investments and a small portfolio of financial assets. The company was incorporated in 1896 to build and operate hydropower plants, acquiring several waterfalls in the Arendal watercourse system. The company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE) in 1913. Today, the consolidated company has more than 2,000 employees in 26 countries, with annual turnover of NOK ~3.7bn (2020).

Today’s portfolio consists of five main assets. In addition to its hydropower assets, this includes Volue and Tekna Holding, which were both separately listed in 2020 and 2021 respectively, and non-listed subsidiaries EFD Induction and NSSLGlobal. All of these investments have been part of the portfolio for an extended period of time. The company also established Alytic as a new portfolio company in 2020, to invest in data-driven companies with a potential for scaling up the business through digital transformation. In addition, AFK has introduced a new segment called “AFK Green Energy Development”, comprising development of sustainable energy solutions, including future investment opportunities in renewable power, trading, fuel and storage. The company also holds a real estate portfolio in its local area (Arendal), and some minor financial investments.
