Horisont Energi Presenting Company

Presentation
Horisont Energi is a Norwegian, independent energy company, providing clean energy, CO2 transport and carbon storage services using proprietary technology. It is headquartered in Sandnes. Founded in 2019, Horisont Energi is the first pure carbon capture company offshore Norway. Horisont Energi is owned 25% by the German energy company E.ON, one largest energy companies in Europe.

The company's first carbon capture storage project, Polaris, will be located in the Barents Sea, where Horisont Energi has been granted a carbon storage license. The Polaris Carbon Transport and Storage Project will be developed jointly with Equinor and Vår Energi. The storage capacity is estimated to be above 100 million tonnes, of which 36 million tons of capacity is already reserved for pre-ordering customers.

In addition, the company in October 2022 signed a project agreement with Neptune Energy for Errai, a project which plans to store 4-8 mtpa CO2 in the first phase.

Horisont Energi also aims to supply blue hydrogen locally in Northern Norway, or transport the H2 as blue ammonia. The blue hydrogen is produced by carbon capture technology. The company also cooperates with Equinor and Vår Energi on the Barents Blue project. Barents Blue is planned to have a production capacity of 3000 tons of ammonia per day, making it one of the largest ammonia plants in the world, and eventually the largest blue ammonia plant.
