The company aims to supply blue hydrogen either locally in Northern Norway, or transport it as blue ammonia and then convert it to blue hydrogen. Its blue ammonia is produced by carbon capture technologies. Horisont Energi is the first pure carbon capture company offshore Norway, and Polaris will be the company’s first carbon storage, located in the Barents Sea. The storage capacity is estimated to be above 100 million tonnes.

Horisont Energy has announced several letters of memorandums (MoUs) with large European companies, and continues the process towards commercial carbon storage offshore Norway. Recently, the company announced an agreement with Equinor and Vår Energy for cooperation at the Barents Blue ammonia plant.
