Talos Energy is a US offshore E&P company with a strategic focus on asset management, in-field drilling, production and some exploration. The management has a strong track record and M&A has also been crucial in building the company to where it is today. Talos is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with key shareholders comprising private equity funds Riverstone (27%) and Apollo Management (16%), which have been invested in Talos since the company’s foundation in 2012.

Talos has built up a production base of around 90,000 boepd. The company’s production stems from several key hubs in the US Gulf of Mexico with underlying producing fields. In addition to its US portfolio, Talos also has the Zama discovery offshore Mexico, with FID targeted in second half of 2021. This discovery is expected to form the backbone of the company's future production growth. In terms of reserves and resources, Talos has 163 mmboe of 1P reserves of which 55% is in production, 23% is developed but not in production, and 22% is undeveloped.
